The Passover celebrations in all the homes of Israel for 14 centuries commemorated Israel's deliverance from slavery in Egypt. The Passover was also a type - an Old Testament picture of Christ. The Passover we study today was to be celebrated, because the next day "Christ our Passover was sacrificed" (1 Corinthians 5:7).
