When The World Is Upside Down

January 1, 2023 Speaker: Jim Harris

Topic: New Year Scripture: Isaiah 5:8–23, Philippians 2:14–16, 2 Peter 3:11–12

As we live through the steady erosion of the culture we have blessed to live in, we know it is just as God said it would be. You would think that the Apostle Paul had inside information about our times when he wrote his final canonical letter.

2 Timothy 3:1–5: But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power;

As I share from a pastor's heart today, I'm presuming that you belong to Jesus Christ. I'm presuming you have heard the gospel, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures. I'm presuming that you've not only heard the gospel, but that you trust in Christ and in Him only for your salvation. I'm presuming that you are committed to His church, and that your desire is to serve Him and His people for His glory alone.

In other words, this message is for the family of God. If you are not fully committed to Christ and His Church, let's get together and talk about why not and what we can do to get you to where you need to be.

  1. The Woes (Isaiah 5:8-23)
  2. How To Prove Ourselves (Philippians 2:14-16)
  3. What Sort Of People To Be (2 Peter 3:11-12)
