In Him We Have Redemption
May 30, 2021 Speaker: Jim Harris Series: Ephesians
Scripture: Ephesians 1:7–10
Ephesians 1:3-14 is one long Greek sentence which comprises the first paragraph of this letter. It's astounding in its depth and complexity. Think of verse 3 as the trunk of the tree and verses 4-14 as the branches and leaves.
4-6 deals with election. It talks about the past. It's rooted in the Father. 7-10 deals with redemption. It talks about the present. It's rooted in the Son. 11-14 deals with inheritance. It talks about the future. It's related to the Holy Spirit.
Today our study shifts the emphasis from the choice of God the Father in eternity past to the work of God's Son in history and what His work has done for us. The key word in verses 7-10 is redemption. We will look at redemption in six parts.
- The Meaning of Redemption
- The Person of Redemption
- The Price of Redemption
- The Result of Redemption
- The Source of Redemption
- The Outcome of Redemption
