The world-changing first missionary trip of the Apostle Paul and Barnabas spanned roughly a year and a half in A.D. 48-49. The highlights of it are recorded in Acts 13-14. We concluded last time after the synagogue gathering, with some very encouraging results.
Acts 13:43: Now when the meeting of the synagogue had broken up, many of the Jews and of the God-fearing proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas, who, speaking to them, were urging them to continue in the grace of God.
Our passage for today spells out crucial elements of the strategy employed by Paul throughout his ministry. Always he went to the Jews first, anywhere he found them, preached the gospel, then turned to the Gentiles. In most cases, it was a bumpy transition.
