What Is Necessary For Salvation?

February 11, 2024 Speaker: Jim Harris Series: Acts

Scripture: Acts 15:1–5

Something very specific sparked a major controversy that was addressed in what has come to be known as The Jerusalem Council.

Just as Jesus promised, once the Holy Spirit was sent to indwell all believers, the gospel began to spread dramatically. It began in Jerusalem, and before long there were over 10,000 Christians among the Jews.

Soon, the gospel went to Samaritans. Not long after that came the first Gentile convert, a man from Ethiopia. Then (Acts 10) God brought the first group of Gentiles to faith in Christ, when Peter was the key man at the house of Cornelius. Fast forward to chapter 13, and where the Gentile Church in the city of Antioch, Syria launched the Apostle Paul and Barnabas on what is referred to as the First Missionary Journey of Paul.
